Deb Fruitt, the new Disaster Coordinator for the Illini Prairie

on likely Red Cross communications needs and to review our joint
operational plan. We also discussed future training opportunities
with the Red Cross. More information will be coming out on that
soon.

We are working on setting up a password protected area where we
can post material for ARES, including our membership list, in a
more user-friendly manner.

147.06 REPEATER INFO
Mark Prather, WB9HFK ,reports that the 147.06 repeater is now PL
only. The tone is 107.2 Hz. Initial reports are that the receive
in SW Champaign is a bit better. As always - the .06 repeater is
open for ALL to use - the tone is just to keep the Indiana interference
out.

REMODELING AT ESDA ALMOST COMPLETE
The ARES/RACES operating position at the EOC is almost complete.
Mark reports that all rigs are operational. The Yaesu dual band
radio has a dual band antenna at about 20 feet or so. There is an
older Icom 2M rig on an antenna at about 125 feet. There are
still a few projects to complete at the EOC, but for all practical
purposes it's ready to go. We hope to line up a tour of the new
EOC sometime in the near future.

NEXT MEETING
The next ARES meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 8, 2003
7:00 p.m. at the FSI. This will be our required "annual" meeting..
I will be sending more information out about this in the next couple
of weeks. You will also be receiving a mail notice (snail mail)
per the requirements of our bylaws.

...AND FINALLY
I'd like to wish you and your families a happy holiday season.
