The March meeting was held Wednesday, March 5 at the Fire Service
Institute. Here are important notes from that meeting and other
news.

STORM SPOTTER TRAINING

The Central Illinois Severe Weather Seminar will be held Saturday,
March 8th, at the State Farm complex in Bloomington. A number of
ARES members will be attending. The NWS spotter training will be
on Wednesday, March 26, at 6:00 p.m. at the Carle Forum in Urbana
(same location as last year). The spotter training has undergone
revision and streamlining. Chris Miller, the new Warning Coordination
Meteorologist at Lincoln (replacing Rod Palmer who retired in
November), will be conducting this session. Chris has conducted
the radar interpretation sessions the last two years at the Central
Illinois Seminar. If you want to participate in storm spotting
this and did not attend NWS training last year, then you must attend
a session this year. I strongly recommend that spotters attend
this -each- year. If you can't make the Champaign County session,
a full listing of NWS spotter training can be found on the Lincoln
NWS web site at http://www.crh.noaa.gov/ilx/spotter.htm

WEATHER NET PROCEDURES TO BE REVISEDĘ

We will be updating and revising the ARES weather net procedures
in the next several weeks and will be reviewing these changes at
our April meeting. If you plan on spotting this season I strongly
urge you to attend this meeting. The procedures will be posted on
our web site after the April meeting.

PUBLIC SERVICE EVENT

We are currently in discussions about participating in one of two
public service events the weekend of April 26. Mark your calendars
