Subject: ARES of Champaign County QST - October 2004
The October meeting of ARES of Champaign County was held Wednesday, October 6,
2004 at the Fire Service Institute. Here are important notes from that meeting
and other news.
ATTENDING

ARES EMERGENCY OPERATIONS PLAN
Plase make sure you read the ARES EOP that was emailed to each of you last week.
I will email you a new copy if and when any revisions are made. The most recent
copy of the EOP should be in your "GO" kit for reference.
ARRL EMCOMM COURSE COMPLETIONS
Be sure to let me know when you have completed any of the ARRL Emcomm courses.
This is the last year that Homeland Security funding will be available to
reimburse those completing the courses.
WEEKLY NET FORMAT
There have been a few hiccups with the new weekly net format, but in general
it seems to be going well. I am slightly revising the script - tweaking it
based on input from users and observations. I will get it posted on the web
as soon as it is ready.
OCTOBER COUNTY EXERCISE POSTPONED
The drill that had been planned for October 14 has been postponed. As of this
time I have not heard when it will be rescheduled.
OCTOBER NET CONTROL STATIONS
The weekly ARES net is held each Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., on the 444.100 repeater.

The new net script and check-in list will be available on the web site soon.
ANNUAL SET (Simulated Emergency Test)
Each year the ARRL promotes an annual SET for testing emergency communications.
This is usully held the first weekend in October, but individual ARES groups
can conduct their SET anytime between then and November 30. We are planning
to hold a SET sometime in November. If you have an idea for an exercise or
would be willing to help plan one, please let me know.

The next meeting will be Wednesday, November 3, 7:00 pm at the Fire Service
