"GO" KIT SHOW 'N' TELL
Several varieties of "GO" or "READY" kits were shown at the meeting, and it was
interesting to see what and how these were organized. All ARES members should
have some sort of "go" kit for emergency activations, and a list of recommended
items is appended to our Emergency Operations Plan. Are your ready and prepared
to "GO" on short notice?

RED CROSS TRAINING
The Illini Prairie Chapter of the American Red Cross will be offering regular
training classes on a variety of topics. The Introduction to Disaster course
will be offered the first Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30 p.m. at the Red
Cross headquarters on Main St. in Urbana. If you have not taken this course yet,
please make arrangements to attend on of these classes. Introduction to Disaster
is one of the components of our "basic training" program. Red Cross is one of
our served agencies and all ARES volunteers should have this training.
WMD DRILL RESCHEDULED
I have heard that the WMD drill that was originally scheduled for October has
been rescheduled for December 21. ARES will likely be involved providing
support to the Red Cross.
NEXT MEETING
The next meeting will be Wednesday, December 8, 7:00 pm at the Fire Service
Institute. This will be our annual meeting. More info will be coming out
about that soon.
