2004 ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
The 2004 annual business meeting was called to order by EC Steve Hilberg, N9XDC.
The minutes of the 2003 annual meeting were read by secretary Wayne Hamilton,
AB9FJ, and were approved. The treasurer's report as given by treasurer Heather
Schlesser, KC9DEQ. Our starting balance was $886.02, and the year end balance
was $167.30. Major expenditures this year were a radio and related equipment
for a portable station, and ARES vests (which are being sold at cost to ARES
members). The treasurer's report was approved.
Officers and board members were elected for the coming year. They are:
President/EC: Steve Hilberg, N9XDC;
Secretary, Wayne Hamilton, AB9FJ;
Treasurer, Heather Schlesser, KC9DEQ;
Board members:
Debbie Fligor, N9DN (2nd year of term),
Mike Haydon, KF8ZN;
outside board members
Bill Keller, Champaign County ESDA,
and Den Fruitt, Illini Prairie Chapter of the American Red Cross.
A motion was made, seconded, and approved to reinstate dues in the amount of
$20 for 2005.Ê
PAYMENT OF 2005 DUES
As noted above, the membership voted to reinstate dues for the coming year.
We have suspended dues the past two years as we had adequate funds in our
treasury and small recurring expenses. However, the purchase of equipment
for a portable station had reduced our available funds. The membership felt
it was prudent to have enough funds in the treasury for possible equipment
repair expenses, additional items for the portable station if needed, and any
unforeseen expenses that may occur.
Dues are $20 and are payable to ARES of Champaign County. Dues must be received
no later than February 1, 2005. Please send your check to
Heather Schlesser. Thanks for your support.
ED WILLIAMS, KB9JTW, SK
We were saddened to learn that Ed Williams, an ARES member since 1996,
passed away on Monday, December 6. Ed had not been active the last couple
of years for health reasons, but did occasionally make it to a meeting.
Ed was the father-in-law of Zane Zeigler, KB9LCJ, and grandfather of
Andy Zeigler, KB9LGM. Our condolences go out to the Williams' and Zeigler
families.
