AEC POSITIONS
I am still looking for Assistant Emergency Coordinators as described in my email

the three AEC positions please let me know. We need more members becoming
active in the leadership and operation of ARES. Al Wolfe, K9SI, has been
appointed AEC for Technical Services.

HOMER SESQUICENTENNIAL EVENT A SUCCESS
Champaign County ARES provided communications support for the two-day
celebration of the Homer, IL Sesquicentennial June 4-5. The event ran 11 hours
on Saturday and 9 hours on Sunday. ARES provided communications between the
different event venues located in around town, as well as 'shadows" for the two
event organizers. Those participating from Champaign County ARES were Steve
Hilberg, N9XDC; Al Wolfe, K9SI; Mark Rayburn, KB9KAI; Mike Kruk, KC9AZX; Mike
Trautman, K9MLT; Heather Schlesser, KC9DEQ; Jim Baltz, W9MOO; Eric Hilberg,
N9XDD; Wayne Hamilton, AB9FJ; Dave Sanstrom, WB9YKV; Dave Leininger, W9DML;
Larry Kearns, N9XDH; and from Vermilion Co ARES Dave Cline, KB9ZMF.Ê

I am preparing an "after action" report on this event describing our operation
and "lessons learned". I will be distributing it to all of you when complete.
This turned out to be an excellent training opportunity testing our ability to
staff and manage an extended deployment. Thanks to all those who contributed
time to help with this event. We contributed 98 "person-hours" to the event
during the weekend.

ANOTHER PUBLIC SERVICE EVENT
We have been asked to provide communications support for the American Diabetes
Association Walk on Sunday, October 9. You may recall we helped with two years
ago when it was held at Market Place Mall, This year it will be held in Crystal
lake Park in Urbana. I'll have more details as the date approaches.

POSSIBLE FOX HUNT
We discussed the possibility of holding a fox hunt in August both as way to get
out and have some fun and to acquaint our newer members with the art of
direction finding. If and when this comes together there will be more info
sent out via email and announced during the ARES and TCARC nets. Stay tuned!

license, the quarterly exams will be offered on Sunday, July 17, 1:00 PM at the
