"Ready" kits were the topic at the September meeting, and thanks to Mike, K9MLT,

for different deployment time periods (for example, <6 hours, 24 hours, >

KATRINA DISASTER RELIEF
If you have entered your name into the volunteer database or have responded to
the email request for volunteers, please let me know that you have done this.
We need to keep ARRL section staff aware of who has volunteered to help (even
if you are not called) and who, if anyone, actually is deployed.

NATIONAL SIMULATED EMERGENCY TEST WEEKEND
The national SET weekend established by the ARRL is the weekend of October 1-2.
The ARRL Simulated Emergency Test is a nationwide exercise in emergency
communications, conducted by ARRL Section, District and local Emergency
Coordinators, and by Net Managers. Both Amateur Radio Emergency Service(r)
(ARES (r)) and the National Traffic System (NTS) are involved. Local ARES
groups are encouraged to work with their local served agencies on this weekend.
We will explore conducting a SET exercise with the Red Cross. You have already
received a notice about a Pot Luck on October 1 hosted by Heather, KC9DEQ.
Hope to see everyone there!
