ARES of Champaign County Bulletin

The
October meeting of ARES of Champaign County was held Wednesday, October
3, 2007 at the Fire Service Institute. Here are important notes
from that meeting and other news.

OCTOBER EXERCISE
Mike Trautman, K9MLT, described plans for the SET to be held in
October. It is scheduled for Sunday, October 28, beginning at
noon. A separate email will be sent to the ARES list with more details
on the exercise. We hope to have a dual-band (2m/70cm) antenna
installed at the Red Cross headquarters by that date.
VE EXAMS OCTOBER 21
Debbie Fligor, N9DN, announced that the fourth quarter VE exams for
new ham licences or upgrades will be held Sunday, October 21, beginning
at 1:00 p.m. at the Fire Service Insitute. For more information

WEEKLY NETS
The weekly ARES net is held each Tuesday, 9:00 p.m., on the 444.100
repeater, CTSS 162.2. The ARES 2m Simplex net is held on 146.550
immediately following the 440 net. The monthly digital net is
held on the fourth Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. Net control stations for
the next month are posted in the Nets section of the web site, www.wa9res.org.
NEXT MEETING
The next regular meeting will be on Wednesday, November 7, at 7:00
p.m. We will have a presentation on "basic packet radio".
