Activities

Monthly Meetings

Meetings are held at 7:00 p.m. on the first Wednesday of even months at the Fire Service Institute in Champaign, and at the Champaign County EOC, 1905 E. Main, Urbana in odd months. This is when training is typically offered.

Storm Spotting

Champaign County ARES members are active in assisting the Champaign County Emergency Management Agency with storm spotting duties in the county. Almost all of our members have received the National Weather Service training. In addition, we offer a second training session that emphasizes spotter preparation, safety and communication. We are fortunate to have trained meteorologists on our membership roster.

Public Service Events

Public service events provide opportunities to assist organizations with their communications needs, showcase the capabilities of amateur radio, and for operational communication experience in a non-emergency environment.  CCARES participates in several public service events each year.

Drills and Exercises

CCARES holds drills and exercises several times per year to test different capabilities.  Some of these held in conjunction with our served agencies.
